San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge

Original character/personification

Last Updated: 08-22-2012

My take on what the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge might look like if it were a person.

This took a while to put together, even though I admittedly did not sew a single item from scratch. I dyed and stenciled/painted the shirt myself (it started as white), and stenciled some patterning on the socks as well. The wig had to be dyed the proper color (I used the Copic ink method, if anyone is curious). I also made the bridge truss pattern on the crutch - it's balsa wood masking tape, hot glue, and paint.

Looking at this now, I feel like it's fairly clumsy, and I know I could do better now. But this was also the first costume I made in several years, and I'd never thought to sew my own when I was younger. I may re-do this one sometime in the future.
