Uta no Prince-sama

Last Updated: 08-30-2012

Oh wow, I am SO in love with this costume.

I made everything besides the shoes and belt, essentially. The jacket was entirely hand painted. The stars on the cuffs and belt are actually sparkly satin. Satin, what the hell!! I can hear you screaming from across the internet. Yeah, it was a good idea in the fabric store when I saw it and yelled "IDOLS SPARKLE," but trying to applique them on was such a pain. I tried almost everything I could think of and almost!!! gave up, until a last moment of despair when I glopped a whole bunch of Mod Podge on it. And what do you know, it's stayed and still stays. :)

The cravat is fantastically fluffy and all the stripes on the shirt are stitched on. There are buttons on the front of the shirt but they are simply lies. Keeping the origin of this costume in mind (stage performance costume), I put a zipper in the back so that it's strip ready for quick costume changes backstage.

All the studs were stick on bling and I sparkled like CRAZY when I moved. I loved it!!

Flips on the wig were just teased up with hair gel. It was great.

Since this outfit is game-only, the bottom half isn't visible. I improvised by taking the bottom half of its anime equivalent (the concert outfit in episode 6 from the anime 1st season) and it flowed very nicely. :)
