Lulu

Final Fantasy X

Last Updated: 04-10-2006

I did the whole thing by my lonesome with the exception of the fur and lace, half of which was done by my very understanding boyfriend. It took a month start to finish, which I'm pretty impressed by since I know some people spend up to a year on the same costume. The hairsticks were crafted from armature wire, polymer clay, and drill-top hairsticks, plus beads and anodized jewelry wire. The necklaces were pretty standard, but I dyed bone beads red for the middle necklace, which gave them a lovely coral appearance. The fur started out snow-white and was dyed with black RIT dye, then tinted with acrylic paint. The lace was cut from cafe lace, then painted. The belt skirt, which is fully attached to the overskirt, is made mostly of cloth and pleather strips, with a few real belts thrown in. The waist cincher was bought online, then detailed with gray acrylic paint. Because I used a waist cincher rather than a corset, I had to make a sleeved top to which the fur was attached. Currently I'm revamping it-- permanently attaching the fur, and reinforcing the belts, many of which were torn off when walking around the con.
