Princess Greensleeves

Last Updated: 11-18-2012

It is an original costume, partially inspired by a well-known English ballad "Greensleeves". I know that this song says about the 'lady Greensleeves', not a princess, but since my character has a crown, I decided that this would be a proper title. At first I had an image of a 'raggedy princess' or 'princess lost in the woods', dressed in shabby clothes, shredded with blackthorn and claws of some mysterious woodland creatures. But in the end the costume turned out to look more refined and glamorous. Also this costume was supposed to have a some sort of fantasy steampunk vibe, which i think, I didn't pull off. There's very little left from steampunk here, except maybe an intricate lacing on the corset and some detailing, like a Victorian inspired blouse and gears in the jewelry (which cannot be seen in the photos). Still it's one of my best costumes to date. Great thanks to Jay aka Taoneko for taking awesome photos, to Anita Lust for assisting during photoshoot and to other members of Tantalus cosband for their support.
