Boy, this costume was tough!
We decided to enter the skit contest at Malta Comic Con 2012, and hit upon doing Mulan. Being the tallest, I was cast as Ling.
The base of the costume was easy. The trousers are made of some random material we found in the bargain bin, with an elastic waist. The kimono top is made of calico, and the yellow is some kind of cotton. The black is cotton drill.
The armour was the hard part. It is made of paper mache and cardboard. We made breastplates, shoulder armour, back plates, and the armour flaps, then covered them in cardboard plates. These plates were sewn on with strands of wool. It too forever!
