This costume took a lot of work and time to make, but it was fun making and wearing it.
The headphones are made from a medium-thick foamboard which I was able to cut out to create the proper shape. A black hairband and lots of gold and black fabric, aqua plastic stone-like pieces, glue (hot glue, tacky glue, gorilla glue), headphone foam, black wire, gold paint, and gold string were used just to make the headphones. The skirt and top are made from a light and stretchy leather-like material, and are outlined with a shiny similarly textured gold fabric. The design on the front of the skirt is made of gold fabric paint, and the boots are old boots that were modified to become knee-high boots in a gold fabric casing. The arm bands (3 total) have elastic in them to snugly and comfortably fit my arms. The belts came with the studs but I painted each individual stud gold. The thigh-high socks are taken from stockings that were cut, and gold fabric was added to the top to rim the edge. My mother worked on the boots, leggings, skirt, and top, and I worked on the headphones, design on the chest, belts, and armbands. Also used in my outfit are a long pink wig, blue contact lenses, and the 03 drawn on my arm with body paint.
My Luka costume has undergone many changes and improvements. The first time I wore it, the armbands were too loose, then they were too tight, my boots fell down often, my wig bangs were too long, and I made a bad choice in using sharpie to put the 03 on my arm. But after fixing those problems and by the time I wore it to Anime Los Angeles 2013, I was very comfortable in my Luka costume.
