Finished one week before Katsucon 2013! Love this character <3
In the photos on here you can see my progression of improving the makeup for this costume as the year went on :)
For my nose/chin I made prosthetics from scratch. AKA got friends to lifecast my face, then I did a sculpt and made a plaster mold. My first wearing at Katsucon was a hollow latex cast. In my second wearing at Zenkaikon I upgraded to cast cold foam which felt awesome and took the paint much better! I then completely REMADE everything (new lifecast and new sculpt) for Anime Boston, also using better plaster for better foam castings. :) The new sculpt blends into my face better and you can really see it in photos from Anime Boston and AnimeNEXT. I also began painting the prosthetic with PAX paint as a base, and blending edges with pros-aid / powder mix. My main painting on my skin is all Mehron AQ Aquacolors facepaints, love that stuff!!!
My huge nightmare scythe prop is so fun to carry around. <3 I made it very sturdy and it only weighs a little more than half a gallon of milk (4.3 pounds). I can even swing it around like Pitch does in the movie (outside of course with enough space! It's 6 feet tall). It's mostly pink insulation foam, paper mache, and wire mesh. The bottom half is a stick (organic shape), and top part has an aluminum rod inside for structure (with thick bolt in the middle where it screws apart for transport). The eyes light with small, wired diodes! :) I used milk carton and paper to diffuse the eyes.
The actual cloak is a jersey knit dress I altered heavily to the point I basically just used the dress for fabric. It's simple but effective. I will make a better one if I get time/money. But to be honest there is not much to his cloak cept being long, flowing, and matte black. For my legs I used fleecy lined thick, matte black tights. Cozy!
Underneath I made a tight gray spandex top that covered my boobs and I airbrushed for his skin fade. After Katsucon I open chest bound (and painted my chest) for Zenkaikon and Anime Boston and liked it a lot better! A pain to put on but it looked a lot nicer and was cool so it was worth it.
Out of the same gray spandex material I made gloves that I sewed into the cloak, I airbrushed them to be faded / look like real hands.
The hair is my real hair, painted black (spray in color + face paints for my scalp) / hi-lighted with white.
