I used to be on a huge Homestuck kick, but lately with life going on and responsibilities to take care of, I haven't had too much time to invest in it as I used to. The kick has died down for me, but I still enjoy cosplaying from it very much.
Jade was an adorable character and I loved her from the start. She was kind, smart, intuitive, and only put up with so much crap before she kicked everyone's ass about it.
I decided to go with her God Tier as soon as Cascade came out (wow, over a year ago since I posted this) but it took me a while to find the time to get materials, much less the time to stitch it.
There are three reasons I'm proud of this cosplay:
One, finding the tights were a lot harder than I thought
Two, I didn't have a pattern for the top or the hood so I improvised and I think they turned out great!
Three, and this is the main reason... this entire cosplay was completely handstitched.
I don't have a working sewing machine at this time, so I sat down and completely stitched every piece of fabric here. I know it's not a complex cosplay but this is the first time I've really sat down and done everything from scratch and I'm proud of me for taking an initiative like that. I've never had anyone teach me how to sew (by hand or machine) so I had to experiment with that too.
I have to say, I love the result. It's also the most comfortable cosplay I've ever worn to date!
This will be debuted at Animeland Wasabi 2013 and possibly a later con; I've personally been iffy about cosplaying anything that so much mentions Homestuck at cons lately, but I'll have a guard dog with me so there won't be anything to fear!
