Himura Kenshin

Manga Ver.

Rurouni Kenshin

Rurouni Kenshin is my all time favorite anime/manga OF ALL TIME. They really mean so much to me, so when I got the idea that I could cosplay Kenshin... it didn't leave.

I've chosen the manga version of Kenshin, because the anime has a lot of confusing references and I tend to like the manga colors better.

The kimono I ordered for the costume was actually a female kimono (very tall, curved sleeves) since red is not a color you find among male kimono (it's a color reserved for children, mostly; a man who wears red is considered a vagrant). Edits to the kimono involved squaring off the sleeves and giving it a new hem (since I'm wearing it male style, it needs to be a lot shorter). It was also dyed a darker shade since the hue it came in was very near pink.

The wig is Arda's Ferrari in Pumpkin and straightened, with some minor cutting on the bangs. The hakama came from a martial arts store, as did the zori. Bought the tabi.

I decided in the end it was better to settle for carrying around a bokken rather than a prop sword. The brown one is my temporary one until my black one comes in. :3
