Coronation Gown

The Lord of the Rings

Last Updated: 02-10-2013

The dress is a Museum Replica gown whose beading was not in great shape. Whole strands were missing and many were missing at least half. I learned a lot about beading with this project. I've been replicating the bead strands and they've blended in quite nicely. There was also storage damage from the dress' previous owner which I have slowly been fixing as well.

The circlet/crown has been a labor of love and is still under construction, though over 75% complete. I had one crown that had been sitting around gathering dust for years, which I used as the front. I found another crown online that I attached to the first to serve as the back. I need to rewire a few portions of it.

The beading on the crown has been the most tedious thing. Finding the right beads then hand-stringing them is a time-consuming and exact art, I've come to discover. But it is worth it to see the beautiful patterns sparkle as they hang finished from the crown :)

This is still a work in progress, but I couldn't resist wearing it out for a bit.
