Sailor Venus

Sailor Moon

Last Updated: 02-23-2013

Ah this costume. I almost didn't make it because I read so many horror stories on making sailor moon costumes but for being a first timer I was pretty happy with how it turned out. There are definitely some things I would, and plan to change but it was still pretty fun to wear.

The fuku took two tries to do [first try well lets just say it would have been the perfect cross play binder ><] and I was pleased with how it came out. It was made using the green pepper pattern which is very user friendly especially with all the tutorials out there! Made with a 4 way stretch white jersey knit so it was super soft too!

Skirt was my least favorite part and I wont lie I ran out of time and threw it together >> It should have been pleated more but again I shall one day fix that. I used a Casa Crepe fabric from Joanns because it was the right shade of orange and I liked how it felt.

The hip rolls were done using left over jersey and stuffed with pillow stuffing ^^ And same with the shoulder rolls and the glove rolls were with casa satin and the pillow stuffing.

All the bows were made with simple cotton fabrics.

The headband and the chest heart were made using polymere clay and then painted. And the shoes were black and I spray painted them with floral paint which I totally recommend if you have to change your shoe color.

I decided to do a curly wig because I liked the look of it better than a straight wig and I went with a more golden blonde than platinum because It looked better against my skin.
