RG Veda

OMGOSH RG VEDA. I have loved RG Veda since middle school, and had long since given up on ever cosplaying any of the characters because so few of my friends know the series and I really wanted this to be part of a group/pair. When Dust Bunny had a really great idea for a performance for the WCS prelims, I was ecstatic when she said it was RG Veda!

For this outfit, I wanted a combination of realism but I still wanted to retain a bit of the cartooniness of the designs. So, I went with a few different textures of fabric paired with filigree jewelry (Dust Bunny's idea) to get that look I wanted.

The wig is an Arda Delilah in Raven. I trimmed the bangs and then flat ironed, hair sprayed, and oil sheened the rest of it. I left the ends a bit stringy looking because to me it looks so much more like natural super long hair that way, rather than having that 'long wig' look.

The head wings are worbla that I cut and heat formed then primed with spray primer and painted with spray paint. The blue part of the back of the headpiece is a stretch velvet that I hand-beaded and sequined, then added trim and hand-sewn coins. The piece is sewn into the back of the head wings.

The jewels on the whole outfit are resin cast gems. I cast the gems clear and then painted the backs with navy, turquoise, and gold fingernail polish.

The top is made from a combination of stretch velvet and interlock knit. I hand beaded the sleeves to match the headpiece and made a stencil to decorate the designs on the sides of the top. The trim under the bust attaches via velcro so that the top is washable.

The coin belt is chiffon to which I hand sewed the coins and attached the trim. The second skirt is casa satin matching the chiffon that I hand-painted and again, added trim and coins.

The third (white) skirt is a floor-length full circle skirt that I used the same stencil from the top to paint. It's made from JoAnn's peachskin silky solid because I wanted it to have a really nice heavy looking drape (though it weighs almost nothing!)

The belt is a bunch of large filigree pieces to which I attached a slew of gems with E6000. I hooked and looped them all together with double jump rings, and it closes with a giant lobster clasp. The necklace was made in the same fashion.

Dust Bunny made the gorgeous bracelet for me. :)
