This cosplay was made due to a love of Harley Quinn, and due to the large amount of red satin and fake velvet I had in my room. I really love poor crazy Harley, but I didn't have the money or skill to make a catsuit or any of the Arkham variants. instead, I decided to pay tribute to her with a simple skirt and corset design,
The skirt was inspired by doxiequeen, who has a tutorial for making very fluffy ruffly circle skirts: http://doxiequeen1.wordpress.com/
The skirt is made from multiple panels all sewn together and gathered at the waist for volume. I It was a little difficult to sew the satin to the velvet because the satin was quite stretchy. To hem the skirt, I made facing, which I sewed to the hem: not only did this leave a neat finish, but added weight to the hem, which makes it look more fluffy.
The corset is a heavily altered Burdastyle pattern: I had to take it in at the bust because it just didn't fit. I fused velvet and satin to canvas, and sewed it together as a single layer corset.
The diamonds are appliqués, attached with fusible webbing and a satin stitch for security. The diamonds on the corset are decorated with 3D paint. Originally I used beads, but it didn't look so good.
