Because I decided to make this spring/summer dress near the beginning of the fall/winter season, I had a hell of a time finding fabric. I reluctantly chose a symphony broadcloth in lemon yellow, because it was the only plain yellow fabric in the right shade. It turned out much better than I ever could have hoped for! I did need to line the dress, but the extra fabric forms a perfect skirt that poofs up on its own. It's washable, comfortable, and easy to wear.
I drafted the pattern myself, after a failed attempt to use a pattern purchased from McCall. This also forced me to install a zipper for the first time. Not only that, but an invisible zipper. That was the most difficult part for sure.
I also used some sew-in (not fusible) interfacing to give some body to the front and back of the bodice.
The wig is an Arda Eowyn in Pumpkin, and my favorite wig I've ever owned. It's beautiful and thick, and the perfect shade. A quick styling job, including neural clips from the Etsy shop ShinkaStudiosCosplay, and it was ready to go!
My shoes are from Target; I had already had them from a previous cosplay! My bracelet and necklace are just some red beads and light blue satin ribbon from Michaels. Both fasten with clasps.
I really love Asuka, especially from the first moment she entered the show. She has this confidence to her that, while it's mostly a facade, I wish I had myself when I was 14. I'm looking forward to making more versions of her outfits soon!
