Version 3 completed - June 6, 2007 - Lenne and Songstress Yuna
After watching the intro so many times over, I wanted to do the costume. It had such a fun design to it. I lacked a wig to do Yuna at the time. After I saw Lenne, I was overjoyed because her hair length was similar to mine. I decided to cosplay her after that. Real Emotion is one of my favorite songs to date. I was lucky to hear it sung live by Koda Kumi herself at Ushicon 2004. Koda Kumi's concert was the main reason of what drove me to complete this costume. But my first version was also rushed because of it.
Shirt and sideskirt - The top was made by altering my Rinoa duster pattern. The sideskirt was the hardest part of the whole costume. I made this into four different layers and sewed it together.
Skirt - This was my first time making a pleated skirt. It was easier than Ellone's skirt because it was short. I surprisingly didn't have much trouble with it.
Boots - The boot covers were made after several tries in getting the shape right using references. I used microsuede material and fabri-tac.
Armwarmers - I used my arm as a guide in making it. My newer versions of it were made a lot cleaner. Elastic bands that I sewed together were used on arm and upper arm. Though it was very difficult keeping the upper arm bands in the same criss-cross position.
Earrings - The earrings were attached using a clear elastic string that hung on my ear, but after wearing them for a long time it killed my ears, but I put up with it. Not the most comfortable method.
8 months later I did version 2.
I mostly redid the sideskirt, boots, and arm warmers. I just adjusted the top a little bit more, and got another belt. I really like how my new version came out. The sideskirt came out very nice to me since it faded from white to gray.
More than 2 years later I did version 3.
Since the costume had been in storage for a long while, I decided to redo some parts of it just to be a bit neater. I reinforced the top by adding another fabric to the inside so that it would be doubled and look neater. I sewed the biker shorts and the skirt together. It fitted more secure this way. I completely redid the armwarmers, sideskirt, and white lace. I bought a new Yuna wig because I was getting fed up with the color of my human hair wig after dying it a few times over the two years I had it. I fixed the tail for Yuna Songstress since I felt my first one was a bit too thick.
Total spent - $317.16 on all versions in both Yuna and Lenne, including wigs.
