Pharaoh Atemu

Battle Tower flashback version

Last Updated: 06-01-2011

When I finally decided I had to add the pharaoh's costume to my complete Yami Yugi repertoire, I didn't want to do the Egypt arc version that everyone else does, because I don't like the stark white tunics and light blue loincloth thing. I much preferred the darker colors of the flashback version, dark blue tunic and belt and red cloak. But the headdress on that costume is ugly, so I swapped it out for the Egypt arc one instead. Meaning, this costume is flashback!Atemu between neck and ankles, and the headpiece/earrings and shoes are Egypt arc.

A number of different materials went into the construction. The shirt, schenti, and loinbelt are linen with gold fabric trim (some random poly formal fabric). The cloak is also linen. Sewing was quick and easy, apart from some weight issues with the cowl of the cloak. The complex part was the accessories. The armbands and neckbands are styrene, the broadcollar is sintra, the wrist and leg bands are wonderflex. The headdress is a curious combination of sintra, sculpy, buckram, and paperclay, snapped and temporarily sewn into the wig. The earrings are metal and foamboard, and the rings are buckram and paperclay. I had to learn a lot of new techniques to complete this costume, and to make the headpiece fit my existing Yami wig without becoming a permanent part of it.
