Elsa - summer original
Last Updated: 07-19-2017
I made the drape skirt and crown for a Santa Clause parade and everyone said I was the best Elsa in the parade. I decided to go with it and make a summer version. Being Canadian, like Elsa, the cold doesn’t bother me, but the heat is a killer. I wanted a light cool outfit with an icy feel to help me be comfortable in warmer weather.
Drape skirt – Inspired by Simplicity 2851. I didn’t have enough material to follow the pattern so I looked at it and faked it. I did a simple elastic waistband. There is a string of Christmas lights hand sewn in. There are two pockets on the inside for battery packs.
Sheer underskirt – Simplicity 2851
Shirt – The white tank top I found at a thrift store. I added icicle cap sleeves and embellished it.
Crown – The base of the crown is wire to which I hot glued snowflakes, icy branches and a string of LED lights.
Shoes – I took an old pair of black shoes, cut the bow off, glued glitter on, and then used clear sealant spray.
Hair clips – there’s one large barrette at the end of the braid and little hair clips to help hold the crown in place. They are layers of foam snowflakes with glass snowflakes glued on top.
