Kyoukai no Kanata

Beyond the Boundary

Last Updated: 06-22-2017

The sweater was hand knitted using size US 5 (3.75 mm) needles to knit each individual front, back, and sleeve panel. The parts were then hand sewn together and then double pointed needles of the same size were used to shape the collar on the finished piece. After that, buttons and button holes were hand stitched in place, and two small squares were knitted up and sewn onto the front to form pockets.

The uniform pattern was completely hand-drafted from an older shirt and newspaper. It has functional buttons that close the uniform together. It was made from dark blue cotton. The sailor collar was also cotton trimmed with hand-made bias tape from the blue uniform fabric. Then, for a final touch, a dark blue ribbon is wrapped around the underneath of the collar and tied in the front as a bow.

The skirt is simply pleated blue fabric trimmed with hand made-bias tape. There is no zipper, only hook closures on the waistband.

The sword is three layers of cardboard individually covered in two layers of wood glue, then wrapped in duck tape. After that, the pieces were hot glued together, wrapped in duck tape around the flimsy parts, and then completely wrapped in masking tape. Next, the sword was covered in paper cache, which was coated thrice more with wood glue and spackle before being painted with red spray paint and weathered with black acrylic paint.

The wig is a Classic Arda Inigo in Light Pink (CL-012). The small spike was achieved by using tacky glue and Got2Be freeze hairspray to shape and trim the spike into place.

The shoes, glasses, and tights were ordered off of Amazon. The hand wrap is basic roll gauze from a drug store.
