This entire project was to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday. Rob is a big scifi movie nut and after watching Free Enterprice (which is a hilarious movie with William Shatner), he went out and bought Logan's Run out of nostalgia after all the silly movie references. In the matter of two weeks, hunting through lots of bargain fabric and getting generic measurements, I managed to belt out eight costumes. They're all basic, simply made, and there was a looooot of hand-hemming to avoid top-stitching. Everyone was responsible for finding their own gawdy accessories. But I enjoyed the group when we finally managed to put it on. Of course, only the older fans at Katsu even had a clue, but those that did, were very enthusiastic. Plus, Rob was almost unrecognizable to even close friends since we stuffed his very long dark hair into a short blond wig...

On a later note, I wore this costume again at RavenCon 2008. I heard there were only six entries in their Masquerade so I thought, what the heck, I'll enter since something that small won't take up much time and they needed more costumers. The coolest thing was the craftsmanship judge had worked as an extra in the Logan's Run move (!!! Awesome!!!) and she loved the fact that I frenched all my seams and hand-hemmed the entire outfit. I ended up with two awards but the presentation judges got confused about who was what division (yeah, with all whopping 7 entries) and I was given a Novice presentation award... *sighs* So I'm not listing that one.
