I've finally finished Lum. This costume is deceptively difficult, and due to time constraints took me a year and a half to complete.

Lum is my #1 favorite anime character, and so I wanted to do it right. I disliked all of the tiger prints that I saw because they were either too gold, too orange, or too fluffy. I didn't see fabric paint as an option either, because it never seemed to come out dark enough.

So I resorted to using yellow micro-fleece with hand stitched black micro-fleece stripes. Never again. It turned out well though, I think.

I also commissioned the Lum wig from Katie Bair, but found that it needed alterations to suit my needs. I had a foot chopped off the wig by my stylist to make it more manageable and allow it to fluff out more. Also, the horns that Katie put on the wig popped off, and so I made some new ones myself.

Wearing this costume took some guts, and I know my body isn't in that great of shape. I just hope I didn't offend anyone by wearing it-- I just love Lum to death and really wanted to cosplay her.

The best part of the whole costume was getting to wear it next to Hannah and Rachel-- they dressed up as Pink Lum and Benten (respectively) to make me feel more comfortable showing this much skin. Thanks, guys! ^^
