The costume's done and definitely a fun one to wear!
My pictures in this folder show the progress of the jacket (which is reversible), the wrist cuffs, and a test of the hair extensions. My camera's batteries died and my charger's missing, so there's no progress shots of the body suit... Sorry!
Anyway, onto other details. I found a great body suit pattern from Kwik Sew that worked beautifully! I think I just need to tighten the waist a bit and it's good to go. It's very comfy to move in... I used a zigzag stitch for everything on the suit. The racing stripes are glued in place, then permanently sewn on so the suit moves like a dream!
My friend John (and our Akuma for the group) painted my shoes, which were initially bought from Chadwicks.com. I honestly can't think of anything else that isn't covered in my progress pics... so I'll just give some brief info into the project itself.
The Street Fighter group I pulled together for Otakon 2006 are all people from the dojo I work at. Ryu/Keith is my fellow instructor and has been studying martial arts for roughly 13 years. Sakura/Becky and I test for our first black belt together when she was 11... so she's been at it a while as well. Akuma/John's a friend of Becky's and was a student at Power Kix before I was there, and then recently came back to train again. We share a lot of interests and it just fell in to ask them to do a martial arts skit for a convention. We had an amazing time, so now we just have to do more...! @_@ Of course, we've got a few more folks at the dojo to pull in still, heh heh heh...
For those interested in watching the full skit, here's one of our last practice sessions in (nearly) full dress rehearsal before the convention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLUYSaTQnXg Check it out!
