The costume is made of 7 layers in some places and as little as 2 in others. Its got a hemp undershirt, cloth over shirt, 2 shoulder pieces of cloth, the under belt, the leather belt, the clasp covering the real buckle on the leather belt, the pockets. The bat was the hard part. We've made 3 of them. (two in this picture) The first two broke really easily the 3rd you can bash things with hard if you feel like it. In the first two it was just a glass cold cathode tube powered by batteries in the handle. The third one was built much much better. We took the same tube (different color this time) and stuck it in a piece of clear PVC pipe (heh good luck finding THAT) hot glued it in there. This made it to where it couldn't jiggle (which is what broke the first two). We then double secured it in place. At one end with a screw that went through the bat and the pvc tube. At the other end by putting it tightly in a pvc cap (which was bolted to the end of it.) the whole thing was then glued at various points and held shut with tape and a metal sewer clamp. Its powered by 8 AAs in the handle. It makes it kind of heavy and VERY lopsided as the handle weighs like 2 or 3 pounds or so and the blade weighs like 1 pound at most.
