Description

Arkadia and I had been stunned by the beautiful Trinity Blood designs by THORES Shibamato for months, and she asked me to watch the show and cosplay from it with her. By the end of the opening theme, I was hooked and agreed right away- on the condition that we based our costumes off the novel artwork. For a long time, I was unsure which character I wanted to cosplay. Eventually, as I was looking through hundreds of scans, I became enamored with this beautiful backshot of Astharoshe Asran, the Methuselah Duchess:

Trinity Blood has horribly inconsistent artwork, but I hadn't really seen anybody cosplay this particular version of Asta, so I set out to do so.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES: Oh man, where to even begin? This costume took 6-7 months on and off, and was made 95% by me. (I received a little help patterning the leggings, cutting the bangs, shaping the breastplate, and screwing the rings into the Spear of Gaeborg.) Everything was pretty much made from scratch. I was fortunate to find that I owned many of the materials needed to create this costume- for instance, my mother randomly found 10 yards of the blue fabric when she was cleaning out her cupboards- but due to all the details, a lot of experimentation and creativity was involved. Please, if you have questions on how I created any specific part, feel free to send me a PM, because if I started rambling about it here, I would never stop. I feel like I leveled up about 15 times making this costume.
