[warning, no one really reads this, so i'm going to rant. XD]
Well, i choose to watch this movie on the plane, and it was AWESOME.
Nana was very well portrayed, IMHO (as i've only read like 2 pages of the manga in a preview) by Mika Nakashima. Nana was just sooooo cool....I didn't realize it at first, but i'm usually really slow when it comes to things I end up really liking. :3 anyhow, i kinda thought a lot later that i made the same facial expressions as M. Nakashima...and my hair was already short XD so...two and two together...
for the cosplay to work for me, tho, i wanted to be 110% accurate. cuz, it's a pretty...weak cosplay...but if i did it right, i would be happy.
however...
for the costume...i ended up hating making this costume. but i was determinded to make it work, one, cuz juju was going to be hachi, which = super awesome. I hated making this cuz mostly, i didn't make most of it. I spent 90% of the time on this cosplay SHOPPING. -_- I had SOO much trouble purchasing things...let's go down the list, shall we..
the tank top was amongst the list of things that i spent ages (one day, 4 hrs, other days, a bit less) shopping for...and the tank top i think was the only thing i ended up keeping/using. -_-
the jacket, was ebay...an okay deal. I searched REALLY hard for the right pockets and an accurate zipper...the one on the girls side, i think...and just...just...GAH!! and the stocking and garter belt were just kinda embarrassing (i was getting desperate and asked a non-anime shopping friend...she was like..."the things whores wear?"...and i'm like "...yes.")...and after a failure off ebay due to me moving around around the time i asked for it, i never got it. so i had to turn to...you name it...hot topic. -_- but luckily, i got what i needed EXACTLY. even better than ebay thing. *sigh*
the collar and bracelet and belt...those have the right studs on them baby! yay for live action not changing their jewelry every time. however, the main ring, the 3 jointed one, came too late for a-kon (i just thought it was also lost in the mail)...i WAS going to buy the shio one, but that one was broken -_- and he wouldn't sell it to me. Also,i'm still missing the ring on her left hand...none of the ones at the really-expensive-lady's booth looked accurate, or were too big. anyhoo..
my biggest battle was with the ghetto-tard boots. OMG. This continued to haunt me long AFTER this cosplay. Here's the deal...1st, it's called summer. no one sells boots. NO ONE. 2nd, i was missing internet in my house for a couple of days, but then i bid on some shoes from GCO (as i shall call them), making my top bid to be like $15 (with the shipping), so like $5. however, the auction ended during a day i didn't have internet, so i got outbid. but $.05. -_- SOO! i was like, OMG, i need to get some boots (which is actulaly freaking hard to find "accurate" ones that i can modify) and like...i had a choice. 2 pairs from GCO, exactly the same...one, $30+$10 shipping ending 5 days before the con, and another, $1+$10 shipping...ending the day before the con.
so unfortuntately, i went for the $40. (i convinced myself to use them for ed, later). HOWEVER. HOWEVER. 2 of those days, apparently, GCO needs to PROCESS my order...then 1 day off cuz of something called "Postal doesn't work on sundays", THEN the estimated time of 4 days to ship.
Do the math. I didn't get the boots in time.
FORTUNATELY, I asked Joy to help me keep a look out at a thrift shop she went to....and she found something pretty nice (like ankle boots), i whipped out some really fast boot covers, in like an hour...and they look BETTER than those d*mn $40 ones.
(the haunting comes afterwards, because i stupidly tried to return the boots, the boots that i took out, put one on, said, "ouch" like i didn't care that it didn't even fit well anyhow, and put them back in the box, the ones that i would only get $30 back, cuz i pay for shipping, but i ship back, so that's another $8 out of my pocket...for air. EMPTY AIR. and then they accuse me of denting their box and charging me $5 out of my refund, which i SPECIFICALLY emailed them about before i sent the shoes back. At least i cleared up that matter after an angry letter (that was wiped out by their spam filter) and i spoke calmer in the next two.
I really hate those boots.
But i love my ghetto ones....*hugs* thank you joy for finding them~
LASTLY!! LASTLY!!
The only part that I am proud of.
My skirt.
Which was hell, too, b/c looking for accurate plaid was KILLER. I ended up spending $6/yd for the closest thing, but NOT CLOSE ENOUGH (which is TOO expensive, in my standards...cuz it was flannel, for goodness sake...i also needed some polyester stuff under it too ;_;) and i had a lot of crap with buying, then returning, then buying again...the EXACT CLOTH...like it was CUT...and i'm like.. ^_^;; sorry, that's the one i bought..before...
but it's my first skirt, and the pleats are pretty nice and durable...I added lace to the near bottom, and have yet to add the buckles...(that's that last 10% complete) and it has a ZIPPER...yeah. i suppose i got most of my info from charmedseed's cosplay page, thank you.
and the arm wrap, yay! i made. *confetti*
