Description
Cosplay motivated me to learn just more than the basics of sewing. This was my second costume.
The skirt had to be tailored many times because I was not satisfied with it...it made me feel like I had major massive hips...because at first, unlike most pleat skirts... it 'poofed' out too much but I fixed it.
The sailor collar was relatively easy, I drafted my own pattern on the back of wrapping paper.
The tiara, I am the most proud of! I was wandering around a hobby store and I saw these strips of metal... and I thought hey I could make my tiara out of this! So i bought the softest gold metal and I hand drew the pattern and then I cut it with a super sharp razor (carefully!) Then I added the gem with gorilla and then I glued some elastic to it. To keep the metal from hurting my forehead, I used craft foam and painted it gold; so it would blend in with the tiara.
Bows: tons of heavy duty interfacing to make it pucker up
Weapons: Archer Bow and Arrow....the archer bow is actually my trainer bow that I used when I was a kid. So i wrapped that sucker up the night before and yay. And the Arrow...umm...last minute too, I used this program thing that was pretty stiff (I found it in the Mezzanie Hall) and I butchered it and added tons of hot glue ^_^
