Ok, first of all this was the costume from HELL! I had so much help with it, it was mind boggling. What made this costume so bad though, was that I was in my senior year of high school, taking an online college class, prepping for the English AP exam, AND partaking in our school's play, not to mention working TWO jobs; all this added together meant I had like NO time to do anything, let alone costumes. So, leave it to us (my sister's and I, also known as the "Ota-Queen's") to decide to do stellar intricate costumes for our latest convention -_-;; to tell you the truth, I don't remember much about this last spring, but I'll pass on what I do.....
First of all, I LOVE my fabric. SailorGaia foud it for me, and all it really is is Fashion Denim. Yes, the character is supposed to have that material in white, but come on she's "black Pearl!" I couldn't pass that up and chose instead the real black pearl color. The "shel hoop thing-y," was accomplished by wire and stiff material normally used for the insides of curtains on the inside. The ruffles of green and red are just that, fabric put together and pleated. the body suit is made of a lycra material and then dyed-- I didn't intend for it to come out sort of swirly and tye-dyeish, but I did like the outcome very much ^^ The wig has wig extensions in it(actually of a different color -_-;;) and a butt load of hairspray. To tell you the truth, I did not do that part, that was SailorGaia and Cranberry. In reality I did not do half of this costume since I had ZERO time T^T However, my pride and enjoy, my hammer, was done COMPLETELY by me :D It was accomlished with a dowel rod, a children's bucket, a flat stryofoam circle, a styrofoam ball, clear plastic painted with glass paint, craft foam, plaster, poster cones, and BONDO--which makes you very funny after several minutes in its company -__-' That was my labor of love and how I love it! The rest is pretty straighfoward, there are large, plastic beads on the back, the shoes were sprapainted and simply adorned. All in all this is probably my fav. costume now, but I'd like to forget all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into it, as I'm sure SailorGaia would like to as well. My only problem with wearing this in the future is that my hammer breaks almost all weapons policies, so in the future I might be hammer-less ;_;
