Description

I started with the hardrest part of the costume: the mask. At the time I was graduating from highschool so I used the school art studio to mold the mask and ears out of earthenware clay. I was sure to leave little holes around the edge of the mask and ears so I could later attatch it to the fur mantle. Then I painted both in acrylic paint because its very durable and forgiving when you make mistakes. After I was satisfied with that I glazed it lightly and ordered a sheepskin throw rug on eBay. When it arrived I sewed it to the mask using the little holes in the mask and ears using industrial twine.

For the dress I sewed purple fabric together into a simple mumu looking slip. I didn't use a pattern because I wanted it to look as primitive as possible. For the outer white smock I used a wool fabric that tied together on the sides. For the boots I used a tan colored fuzzy fabric sewed into two loose sock looking pull-overs. Then I could wrap long pieces of leather around them to hold them snugly. The jewelry consisted of beads I shaped from sculpy strung on a leather cord. Throw in a wig and a wood carved dagger and I was set!
