After SakuraCon 2006, I become fixated on the series Fullmetal Alchemist. Edward quickly became a favorite character, and though I had never cross-played before, I decided I would like too. I wasn't terribly fond of the red coat though, so when I saw the outfit worn at the very end of the series, and then featured again in the movie "Conqueror of Shamballa" I immediately latched onto that. Enter my (at the time, very NEW) friend Rynn who was planning to cosplay Al, and I was totally sold.
I'm very proud of this costume, really. I bought the slacks, shoes, and gloves, but everything else I made myself. the vest was made from an olive-green stretch sateen, and the shirt made from cheap muslin. The coat was a labor of love, and I wound up using suiting, and poplin suiting. Overall, I'm really happy with this costume, and it's probably the first costume I ever made, that I wore more than once!
