Description
I've always loved the character design in D.Gray-man and when BlackMarth decided she needed to find a new home for one of her coats I decided it was the perfect opportunity for me to cosplay Kanda. So, needless to say, I "adopted" one of her amazing coats.
I have just purchased a wig which I am in the process of styling. It has been pulled back into a ponytail with a white wrap. Next I am altering a pair of just below the knee black boots. I'll be adding silver colored accents to the top to match those Kanda wears.
Next items on the list are altering a tanktop by adding some white strips of fabric so if my coat is open it will appear as if I have the chest wrapping Kanda wears. This tank top will also hide my binding without being the binding itself. I also have to make a trip to my inlaws house so I can use my father-in-law's shop to make "Mugen" his black katana. It will be really basic and only the in it's sheath form. In other words just solid with no blade with the outside painted black and silver with a coat of varnish (since it's harder than lacquer). Hope that made some sense. :P
I'm am also tossing around the idea of making a plushie black-winged golem like the one Kanda has. I'm not sure yet if it'll be just a plushie or a purse. I'm still working out the details.
Ah, only in the world of cosplay can a short, chubby, happy Japanese girl be a tall, thin, ill-tempered bishonen man. Ya gotta love it. LOL
Since I didn't get a chance to wear this at Sakura-con 07 there is plans in the works with a couple of our friends to do a DGM group for Sakura-con '08. That is going to totally rock!
