Hero IV (Lazlo)
Last Updated: 06-05-2007
Not a stitch on the costume is from a store-bought item. I even made the running shorts from scratch, because they had to match the shirt exactly. All the trim on the jacket and shorts is self-made, not bias tape. The armor is RigidWrap covered in Hearty clay, the "metal" plates on the gloves are sintra, riveted to the fabric, and the "metal" tips on the boot covers are wonderflex covered in Hearty clay. I even made the belt myself! Stained and everything!
The swords are mostly wood, a base of basswood, plywood, and a dowel, covered in paperclay. Lots of time was spent sanding the blades smooth with the channel in the middle. I chose the red and black scheme of the Level 10 Twin Heaven Fang, I thought it was sharper than just silver and black. The handle is wrapped in real leather, and the pommel cap is sculpey.
Debuted at CostumeCon 25 in St. Louis, 2007.
