Description
This is the second Haydee costume I've made, and I learned from the problems I had with the first one! This time around, the entire dress is modular; the sleeves, train and straps are all completely removable. This means I can do important things like eat and use the restroom throughout the day!
The dress is glitter-embedded satin; the two-layer overskirt and sleeves are made of three kinds of sheer iridescent fabric. The bodice of the dress is decorated with rhinestones and Swarovski crystals. The jewelry is made of wood, glass, beads, foam, hand-made ribbon and rhinestones.
The wig (which weigs a TON) was hand-styled and decorated with thousands of hand-strung seed beads, pearls, gems, peacock feathers and (of course) glitter. Finally, the wig was hand-painted with pearlescent paint to match Haydee's paisley-patterned hair.
Except for the wig, this entire costume was made in SIX DAYS before YoumaCon '06. We pulled all-nighters all week, and finished at 2:00 a.m. the morning of the con. (Remind me never to do that again. Ever.)
