This was a quickie costume that I threw together for ALA 07 after I saw a fabulous Hawaiian shirt at Goodwill while picking up other costume bits. I was in need of comfortable, run-around-the-con costumes, and this one certainly fit the bill!
The most important piece of a Chaz costume is the ears. Mine were made of some fur I pulled out of my stash (which isn't dark enough, but, well, it was from the stash so it counts XD), sewn around the edges, turned inside out, and whipstitched to a headband. They're a bit big, not rounded enough, and too high up on my head, so I'll probably make a new pair if I wear this outfit again.. which I plan on doing, since it's fun! Because Chaz often matches his shirt to his headband, I picked out a shirt that was extra-long and cut a strip off the hem to make a headband. The silky-type fabric didn't stay tied particularly well, but it did settle nicely after a few hours, so my bangs weren't pulverized. The best part, though, was putting masking tape across my badge with a scrawled "Chaz" as a finishing touch. ;)
Happily, Chaz was quite taken with the idea of someone cosplaying as him (it was a 50/50 chance, he could have glared at me for it XD). It was also a good outfit for standing out (so people can find me!) while being comfortable. No wonder Chaz wears it. ;)
