Description

This is definitely a character I didn't think I'd cosplay!

It started off as a suggestion. Some of my friends and
I wanted to do another group cosplay and Kingdom Hearts came up because Soyo was planning on cosplaying as Riku anyway. Somehow it came down to character assignments and two of my friends thought I could be Sora and I immediately thought, "Waa! Complicated!"
But the idea soon appealed to me so I decided to do it. I became very excited to cosplay as Sora! I think this really is my first complex sewing project.

I used Simplicity pattern 5353 and altered it to make the pants and jacket.
It took a while to get the puffy!pants to look right on the blue pants underneath...
I cinched the pants at the bottom with elastic and stuffed them with batting so they look somewhat puffy. It is like walking with two big pillows around your legs! XD

For the zipper, I decided to go for the more in-game look. (ie- big silly zipper!) I had a coil of metal cut into little squares and attached them to the jacket. The shoulder things are grey craft foam with piping on them. Luckily the craft foam conformed to my shoulder enough! The yellow straps on my shoulders are also craft foam. (It was a last minute/temporary idea but I liked the way it looks so yellow craft foam it will be!)

I finally finished my shoes in time for Fanime 2007!
The base of them are doofy clown shoes I bought online. Soyo helped me with a pattern for the shoes and I went from there. Lots of hot glue, fluff and piping went into them. I also tore apart a pair of my dad's old sneakers for the soles of the shoes. (They still weren't big enough so there is a gap, but you can't tell in most pictures.)

My keyblade was purchased on eBay from seller swordsswords. It's so cool looking! But HEAVY. ;0;
Soyo bought me the necklace from the same seller on eBay~!

Last but not certainly not least, my first wig was styled by Soyo! The wig is a cheapy page boy wig. My friends found out that cheaper fiber seems to hold hair spray really well (in this case, got2b glued) and it is fuller. (So no wefting was involved.) Soyo and I realize the color is not as light as Sora's hair is in KHII (it matches KH better, actually. XD) but oh well! I still loves it! x3
The second wig was styled by myself and all the info for that is in the collage of it in my gallery--waaay to lazy to type about it here because I think I've rambled on about this costume enough!

Soyo also made the red side pouches because I had no time before the photoshoot. (It was 3 a.m. D:) I can't thank her enough for both of these things~!!!

.:Oathkeeper:.

For AX07 I decided to try my hand at making a lightweight keyblade because I was worried my metal Kingdom Key wouldn't be allowed inside the convention. Not only that, I don't think I could have lasted carrying that around all day. (It is a bit heavy.)
I picked Oathkeeper because it is pretty. XD

I took Soyo's idea of using foam core board, model magic and rigidwrap as materials to use.
I cut out the shape in foam board (had to use 1 and 1/3 of a piece since the board was too small otherwise), put dowels inbetween the two pieces, and basically took my time molding model magic around the whole thing so it sort of had a 3D look to it.
(That took the longest. -_-)
I sanded the model magic as best I could to get some of the bumps out. It photographs well but up close you can see the impurities--so to speak. XD

The rigidwrap (plaster sheet stuff) was used to reinforce the weaker parts at the top of the handle so the keyblade wouldn't break into two pieces. o_o;;

I then painted everything. It was sort of difficult to figure out the correct colors for Oathkeeper because in game and in certain art its colors change. I took screen shots of it as best I could and went for a more in-game look.
(The keychain is also based in-game.)
