From 2007.
I always loved this pink dress from Beauty and the Beast (heck I loved all of her costumes!) so around summer of 2006 I thought it would be fun to make this, and take it to the Opryland hotel in Nashville while it's decorated for Christmas and takes pictures of it. Well I didn't get it done in time for that, and then my fiance moved from Nashville anyway, so I've never gotten a chance to do it! :(
But anyway, I finished it up for MTAC 2007. I used a pattern for the top (it's boned and laces up the back) and the skirt, and attached them together to make one dress. I had the hardest time finding shades of pink that I liked and that went well together... in some cases I had to settle for fabric that wasn't ideal, like the skirt fabric - it looks all right, but it wrinkles HORRIBLY.
After I got the skirt and bodice put together, I drew up a pattern for the stripe up the front and around the waist, and cut them out of my light pink. I also added the sleeves and ruffles, and the shoulder wrap.
The cape I made without a pattern out of some red velvet I came across on sale. I added the white trim (which was a pain and got everywhere!) - it's fun to wear.
I really need to find another chance to wear this - all of the pictures I have of it are from MTAC where I'm either freezing (the temperature dropped and it was snowing that weekend!) or where I had the top twisted after attempting to take a nap while wearing this and didn't realise.
I wore this to MTAC 2007 and Dragoncon 2007.
