From 2007.
Utena was always one of my favourite costumes and still one of my favourite characters, so I thought it would be fun to remake it.
The jacket I made using a pattern - I wanted to use the same fabric I used for my first one, so that it would appear black in some shots and dark blue in others. I managed to find something similar, so I was happy! I added all the red trim, the cuffs, the buttons, etc. I'm really pretty happy with the jacket, except the buttons - I want to replace those - and everything that is YELLOW on this costume with gold.
The "skirt" part I ended up doing somewhat last minute and wasn't happy with, so I'm going to be re-making that before I wear it again. The shorts, and ring, were from my first Utena costume. The shoes I bought online, re-covered in the same blue material and added the "spat" section.
The wig I bought and styled. My fiance made the shoulder pieces and the sword - and unfortunately we completely ran out of time with them, and they didn't turn out well. Something went wrong when we cast the sculpt of the shoulder pieces and we ended up having to take them with us and paint them there in the room at the hotel, and I had to attach my white ropey pieces there in the hotel, too. So they didn't look great at all, and they were also a little too heavy.
So - before I wear this again - I'm going to remake the skirt section, replace all the yellow with gold, remake my shoulder pieces and sword... LOL that's a lot, but still, I was pretty satisfied with it.
I wore this to MTAC 2007.
