King of Fighters

Quite a story behind this one.
I'd ordered the wig from Katie Bair in 2004, intending to debut the costume at SugoiCon that year. Since I cannot see through the bangs, my then-boyfriend and a good mutual friend of ours at the time were to dress as Yashiro and Chris (respectively) and be my "guide people". Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. I actually got the wig earlier than I'd expected and still am pleased pleased with it to this day. However, the person I'd commissioned the rest of the costume from did not send it in time nor kept me posted in any way. Meanwhile, my would-have-been "guide people" made no progress on their own costumes and we ended up not going to SugoiCon at all. Then my costume finally arrived, ill-fitting and poorly made. Shortly thereafter, me and my bf were Splitsville (not because of the costume being badly made and the SugoiCon group falling through, but for a variety of other reasons). Between getting my life back on track, not having anyone to assist me while in the costume, and taking interest in other costumes, despite my grandmother offering to make the costume (even buying the material for it) and the wig still being in my possession, Shermie was put on the back burner and forgotten.
Now, with help from Skyfirefox (who is making the costume with the fabric my grandmother already bought as well as making a Leona costume for herself so she can be my "guide person"), Shermie is slated to *finally* debut at AMA 2011. Even so, this costume will only be worn for limited periods of time (i.e. the duration of a photoshoot or an event such as a cosplay chess match or a masquerade skit), as I know I will not want to spend an entire day of a con in sight-impairing costume.
No, I will not be doing the Orochi version any time in the future. This is definitely my last "King of Fighters" costume.
