What an ordeal this costume has been! I've been working on it for slightly more than a year now, and have just now finished it.
The jacket was made by modifying a woman's double-breasted vest pattern. I didn't want to start off with a coat pattern because I thought it would be too loose, and I wanted something that was fairly form fitting.
The skirt was a trial and error process, after the pattern that I actually bought for it turned out to be nothing at all what I wanted. :-/
The hat is from a Simplicity pattern for 1950s diner fun. :p The hat was supposed to be a sort of carhop/diner waitress sort of hat, and I modified it for the uniform.
