Description
The actual outfit was fairly easy. I just modified Sora's pants into a skirt and his shirt into a tank top. I really love Sora but wasn't quite ready to cosplay as a guy (the horror of binding!) so I'm sorry if anyone feels that I'm butchering his character. I DO plan on cosplaying him again, this time as a guy. The main part of this costume was the keyblades. They took endless hours of drawing, sanding and painting. The full scale drawings took me about 3 hours a piece, I wanted it to be as accurate as possible so I did calculations and stuff so that they would be proportionate. They're made of insulation foam so I spend about 30 hours sanding the both of them down using sandpaper and a nail file for the tight spots. I then painted a layer of urethane over them. After that a layer of card board was stuck on top and the details are either painted directly on with acrylic or I cut out separate pieces to paste on (like the chains on the Oblivion). Then another layer of clear urethane was painted on top and thats pretty much it. Oh! The sides were painted and then strips of paper which were about 1 cm thinner than the sides were pasted on so that there's almost like a stripe running down the sides to make them look thinner. Unfortunately they're flat and fat keyblades, but they were my first attempt so I'm fairly proud! I need to make new slimmer ones soon... possible out of wood and model magic and touch up these one because the paint job was really really rushed! Until the last minute before I headed out the door I was still painting them.
