Photographers may now post photoshoot galleries to the site. Photoshoot Galleries are galleries that follow a few specific rules. Galleries following these rules will be automatically put into photoshoot gallery. This section is currently for "photoshoots". This is not to be confused with event galleries. Event gallery submissions are right behind. Rules 1. Only photographers may post photoshoots. Permission from the photographer is not a substitute for this - the feature has been created for the photographers participating on this website. 2. By submitting images to the photoshoots section, you warrant that you took the photos. 3. Galleries must have between 4-12 photos. Exceptions will be made in the future for any special feature shoots posted to the site, but a gallery must have 4-12 photos to be automatically added. . . . a. Why 4-12? 4 is the smallest number we will consider a photoshoot or presentation. 12 is the largest number to default to one page of photos. . . . b. Photoshoots larger than 12 images may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. These will be reviewed by Cosplay.com administration. 4. Galleries must have at least the country of the photoshoot added to the location, and the date of the photoshoot (date the photos were taken). If you do not know the exact date, please estimate. Further information is encouraged but optional. 5. The description of the gallery may not be a URL. Please use the description to talk about the actual shoot. 6. We advise not to have titles over 30 characters. This is not hard-coded, but if we get a bunch of long titles breaking the pages we'll have to hardcode the limit. 7. Photo Guidelines . . . a. A Photoshoot must be a "theme" and not just a collection of images. . . . b. All photos must be from the same time and place. . . . c. Photoshoots must not mix characters from different series or games. . . . d. Photos must not be a continuation of another shoot. . . . e. Photo watermarks may not advertise another cosplay site or a commercial endeavor. A personal photo page is fine. . . . f. Photos may not be generic convention photos. Photoshoots done at a convention are perfectly fine, but there must not be random convention attendees standing around in the background, for example. 8. Photographers are encouraged to add the member ID's of the person or people in the photoshoot. Their member icons will eventually appear in the info section on the gallery's page. Please note - in the future, this may become a requirement. 9. Anyone abusing the feature will have their photoshoot posting privileges removed on a case by case basis. 10. There is no limit to the number of shoots you can add on a daily basis. We do, however, suggest spacing them out a bit. If this does become an issue we will revise this rule. 11. A history of repeat photoshoots of the same cosplayer without other shoots mixed into your portfolio will be reviewed as possibly "promoting" the cosplayer, and the shoots may be flagged for further review if they are judged to be commercial. Short version - please don't use the system as a way to advertise someone. 12. Cosplay.com reserves the right to remove photoshoots on a case-by-case basis, and is not liable for any damages that may occur to you, the photographer, as a result. **Please note - initial photoshoots will not be going live until Monday, April 14th. You can submit as many shoots as you want until then - we will purposely space them out so that each shoot gets some face time on the front page. How To Submit To submit a photoshoot, you must first create the album and upload images to it like a regular album. When you have all of your images uploaded, you then "convert" your album to a shoot. Go into your album administration and click on Edit for the album you'd like to submit. If your album qualifies against the initial check, you will see a button that says "Convert Album to Photoshoot". Click on that button, and it will be entered into the review queue. To qualify for the initial check, you must have the following: 4-12 images A country for the shoot location Year, Month and Day of shoot. If you don't have these added, the convert option will not show up. We will review photoshoots on a regular basis, likely a couple of times per day. The shoots do not have to pass any litmus test for quality - we will make sure they follow the rules outlined above, and then they will be automatically added to the shoot list. Members who have proven that they are continuously submitting photoshoots which abide by the rules will eventually be able to bypass the review process completely. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis. When this occurs, you will be able to auto-add any shoots you'd like to add into the system and not have to wait for a review. The Review Queue Albums in the review queue will show as "Submitted, Pending Review" if you go back to edit the gallery. Albums that are declined will show as "Declined" and a reason given. You will normally be able to edit your album and re-submit, but in the case where an album is obviously not a photoshoot and mistakenly added to the queue, it will be locked out from future submissions. Photo Quality This is an important issue to bring up. Cosplay.com is not going to disallow shoots just because someone uses a point-and-shoot instead of an expensive DSLR setup. Likewise, this is about photoshoots and not about "who can make the best" photoshoots - we don't have minimum requirements for costumes and photos, there are no real minimum requirements for photoshoots. However, if for example the photos are just multiple shots of the same exact pose with a cell phone camera, or shots on a webcam, or something of similar value, we reserve the right to deny the submission. The Daily Three On top of the Cosplay.com photo page at http://www.cosplay.com/photos/ there are three shoots. These will be updated each day with shoots we feel deserve to be showcased in their entirety. Each day, Cosplay.com will choose up to three (3) photoshoots to appear on the top of the main photos page. All other photoshoots will still appear in the main photoshoot section, by order of when they were added. Shoots appearing at the top of the photos page can be chosen from all shoots in the list, though they will typically come from the newest shoots added. So if your shoot is not posted in the top list from the day's shoots, it does not necessarily mean it will never be posted there. We may hit a lull where we pick from older shoots, or we may just queue a bunch up for a few days and let the script auto-update by picking the next three. Gallery Locks When a gallery is added to the photoshoots area, it becomes LOCKED and no further images may be added to it. You may, however, edit the shoot's information. Please keep this in mind! This is in place so that members don't submit shoots and then fill them up with extra photos after the review of the original images gets them into the photoshoot space. Photoshoot Browser The photoshoot browser will be active on Monday, April 14. The updated browser will be at the same main page (http://www.cosplay.com/shoots/) and will have a tabbed interface going between photoshoots, showcases, and official cosplay.com galleries. Coming Soon There will be additional photo features added very soon, including changing of title images, larger image sizes, gallery layout options and designs, etc. Many features will be for upgraded members only. Due to time constraints there are currently no "photographer accounts" coming in the near future so a regular upgraded membership will enable these features for you. More will be posted later. |
