On top of all of that, make sure that when you are cosplaying with other people like friends or such, make sure it is something you are interested in as well. Trust me, making a characters outfit you don't like and would only wear once is a waste of your time and money, even if it makes your friends happy. Trust me, I have learned from this. Only cosplay characters you like. If you don't cosplay as someone you like, it makes your cosplay experience unpleasant. I know this is somewhat unrelated, but it is a good thing to know.
