I decided I'm doing this costume as well for animeNEXT on a $20+/- budget so I can say that I'm not going to be 100% like I would like it to be but I am trying my hardest. Either way it will be easier faster and more enjoyable for me personally than the Sakuya cosplay would be. Hopefully the Witch really gives me a chance to let loose at the con like I haven't in years!
This is my game plan! I'm putting down all my ideas here so I don't forget any of them and anyone looking for witch advice can look here as it seems to be a popular costume lately. I really think that this costume is going to be all about my haunted house experience, as a haunter the skills i learned on the hayride are irreplaceable in this costume.
For the skin:
I'm going to do a full body powder, they sell powder boxes at drugstores like CVS that are plain white and spell very nice, theyre cosmetic and usually used to tone down shine before applying the rest of your makeup. If that doesn't work i dont think it would hurt to try baby powder
For the shadows in places such as the ribs using different tones of foundation can be easily done especially if they're powdered foundations. For example - use a darker tone between the ribs and then blend it in it will make the ribs stand out more and make me look more emaciated
Cause everyone wants to look like that!
Also it never hurts to do some fake blood and a little liquid latex or eyelash glue and some exceedingly crappy tissue I can get some nice bloody effects with that and fake blood by saturating the tissue in liquid latex and applying it to your skin and then after it dries applying deep red lipstick or powder and of course fake blood!
For the teeth:
instead of going for teeth enamel cause that costs a ton or not brushing my teeth cause thats gross a cheap quick and easy way to ding up the teeth is make some kraft mac n' cheese and use 2-3 cheese packets instead of just the 1. It's yummy cheesey and gets those rotting teeth look
For the wig:
using hair wax on a wig (assuming the wig will never be used again) can really get the sectioned look the witches hair has when shes attacking. If you look at the programming it moves in parts so if you leave a moderate amount of hair loose but then take some hair wax and stick about two inches across of the hair together you should get a nice dingy look, also putting a little dry dirt into the hair wax can't hurt and will make it look like you're a zombie from the grave!
For the hands:
if you play the game you realize at the end of her claws its black and fades back into her dingy skin color. there are a few ways to go about this depending on how active I plan on being: if I plan on being relatively careful with your hands it wouldnt hurt to make them out of light weight model magic and form them to your fingers and let them dry and paint them after that you can go in and use the liquid latex/eyelash glue to secure them a little more but I want to run around and let loose
So since I plan on being more active than that I would say that I'm going to use foam sheeting in the same way but foam sheeting is less likely to break
The plan of action for the hands is to make the claws out of the foam sheeting and use rattle cans like air brushes and get the black fade down. I know I have a wicked nice sickly yellow left over from my final sculpture of my design II class! that would make a perfect base coat and then a black and of course going back in with some fake blood and red acrylic to add some gore
For the outfit:
I'm going to do short shorts instead of underwear because I just refuse to run around in my naughties! and a hacked up tank top that i will try to replicate to the game shape will be just fine. Those will start plain white but I'm going to tea stain them to the right ding that I want and then potentially go in with some fabric or acrylic paint and add a little detail/shadow, easy enough
Of course at the end of the day I want to be perfect which would probably involve making latex casts of the hands and investing in some sick red contacts but like i said before I'm attempting this for all around $20 dollars and $15 of that is going towards a wig that can be styled to my specifics
