This isn't gonna be anywhere past beginning phases by the time Dragon*com rolls aronud (in two weeks eep)! Needless to say, personal progress has been a bit slow cuz of a bunch of props due at the end of the month..
So my goal before this con i guess, is to get the pauldron clips completed (the silver thingers attached to the leather cape thinger), and bang together the cape. I'll just stick it on my Altair cosplay and look like the result of a bad slash fanfic XD
because i really really want a cape.

Had my fiance wear my pauldron, put some padding on the shoulder as a placeholder for Ezio's tunic poofiness, and had him stand in "Jazzhands" to lay out the cape with a sharpie & cut to shape. Actually surprised at the shape i came up with, very different than the shape that i saw on the cosplaymagic ones (even though that shape seemed to work).
Got enough red inner lining to make two capes (one in case I messed up or didn't like the finished shape). its actually a deeper red i chose than say, the belt or tunic inlays , as not to take center stage to the rest of the outfit since i decided it to be a silky thing.
My leather hide was too small for the pattern i made, and the hour trip to Tandy and my wallet said no to leather (if i can find the other hide i'll check it, but god knows where it is). Purchased a couple different browns fabrics for it... ones a silky color (with dull back) and the other is a suede type. ), but i'm kinda iffy about the colors i chose. Maybe would have been a good idea to bring the pauldron with me to Joanns', because they're much darker than the pauldron. i'm actually leaning toward a medium brown sound/light blocking suede valance i bought at Walmart.

Studied the heck out of refs, and did some laying out of the belt... lots more buckles n bits on this thing than the segmented one of Altairs... thankfully most refs of it are the same or similar enough to figure out. Theres a massive difference betwen "jazzhands" and the cgi trailer though, namely the leather sitting between the "calipers"/hooks on the belt. One makes the atualt thing wearable, considering the direction of the posts on the bucles in the front, the other requires a lotta switching around. i like the Jazzhands one though. so Figuring out a setup for that it is. there'll be a bit of "magic" under the red sash to get it to work right
The belt insignia sculpt is progressing. Painfully slow. There hasn't been a lot of time to work on them, but at least the left hook looks decent so far. I'm gonna take a good look at the leaves on the design, and if they're the same, I'll see if making one full one and making apress mold, tweaking each one as necessary for each of the leave.
