When making a Garnet cosplay, you generally also want to make her jewel, the Falcon Claw.

First decision you have to make is whether the shape or the shine matters to you the most. You can buy a crystal octagon, then do the silver part from fimo or some other paste or pulp (or whatever the right term is) and there you have the right shine. But if you, like me, prefer the shape (witch isn’t an octagon, but somewhat a half ball that splits in part on the “upper” side) you have to think of something else. Here’s what I did:
You need
*A transparent, plastic half ball. I’m sure you could find for example a Christmas decoration ball that would be the right size. But the plastic must be soft, so that you can cut it with some gardening scissors. So I used the top part of a soda bottle. You just need to find a bottle that has the right, round shape in the top. I was lucky to find the perfect shape from a Lidl cola bottle. They seem to have chanced to shape in few months, so If I had to make a new Falcon Claw, I’d be in trouble. But anyway. It doesn’t matter were you get it, just find a semi-soft plastic half ball that you find is the right size. If you use a soda bottle, cut (or saw more likely) the top part, where you have the stopper, off, and cut the bottle from 10-15 cm from the top.
*1 transparency. I’d prefer transparency that you can’t use in a copy machine, because they are more sheer I think.
*Glitter. I found the perfect glitter that was just the right colour. Individual glitters were small, they had a beautiful shine and the colour, or the shade was white-yellow-blue-nacre (well actually they were white, but with the shine they did have nacre-look in them). Some little bottle on this is fine.
*Glue. I had just some basic crafts glue, some superglue and then some paper glue that is in a stick.
*Spray-on-varnish. Not necessary.
*The top part of the pendant and the chain. It’s hard to get really good reference pics on the silver part of the pendant. But hey, what fun would cosplay be without some detective work.
So you have your half ball. If you have used a bottle, there’s a hole were the top use to be. Because there’s no hole on the back of Falcon Claw, use a round piece of transparency to cover that. Now you need to cut the right shape to the not-round-part of the pendant. And this is where the explaining gets really hard. So maybe some pics to illustrate what I mean.

1) So you cut these hemhemhem triangular –shapes to the edge of the ball, I did 8 of them. You can argue that maybe there should be nine or seven or some other amount of them, but eight is the easiest to do. And there you have the ball part ready.
2) Then you cut a circle from the transparency; it should be few inch bigger than the ball part. Fold the circle in two, then a again in two, and so on, until you have the 8 triangular shapes in the transparency as well. So 8 “hills” and 8 “valley”.
3) Then comes the glitter. Falcon claw has this unique nacre-shine, that I found pretty much impossible to paint on the pendant. Glitter gives almost the right look. So you put glue or spray-on-varnish on both the ball and the transparency. On the inside. Trust me, you don’t want to have Falcon claw that covers everything in glitter. So use glitter on the inside only. Let it dry, use glue and glitter again if necessary to get the look you’re happy with.
4) Then a simple jigsaw puzzle. Put the transparency on top of the ball-part, they should fit nicely together. This is where you can decide how pointy you want the outer part to be. But superglue on the edge of the ball’s triangular shapes, and on the transparency, place together and let it dry. After it’s dry, you can cut the excess part of the transparency away.
5) Then just glue the silver part (witch you have made beforehand) on its place (You may need to use some graft foam etc to get the parts together. I carved a triangular shape on the bottom of the silver part to make it fit nicely) and tadaa- you have your very own Falcon claw.

(Yes, my English seriously sucks sometimes, but I hope you get the idea. This wouldn’t be that easy to explain in my native language either
