I've made major progress on The Doctor outfit! A few things have helped me along the way. First was the wonderful find that I had money in my PayPal account that I didn't know about! I thought I'd be paying out-of-pocket for the props and finishing touches when I found it. So I immediately rushed over to eBay and got everything I needed. Then last weekend Jo-Ann Fabrics had a huge sale. So combined with my coupons, I didn't have to pay full price for much.
My spree at Jo-Anns got me all the fabric, notions, and pattern for the suit. I'm going to have to work with the pattern a bit since the pattern doesn't work for the tux jacket. It's almost spot-on for his other suits, but not the tux. It's simply that the tux is cut lower in the front than the pattern. So it hopefully won't be a big deal.
But before that, the Sonic Screwdriver arrived! Which is when I found out that I had ordered an LED flashlight version instead of the pen. I think it might be a little smaller, and all it does it light up. But it'll do for Halloween. When I can spare it, I'll get the pen and really have fun!
On Tuesday the bow tie arrived. Yes, I ordered a silk bow tie that you have to tie yourself. I'm going to try to follow the instructions and tie it myself and probably let it hang loose later in the evening. Which just gave me a great idea for another Doctor costume! But later. He does let it hang loose in Voyage of the Damned, so I'll even be in character. I think it's the only time it's untied when he's wearing the tux. I could be wrong though.
When I get home tonight, my trainers should be waiting for me! I am so wearing them to work tomorrow. And if anyone, like my fiance, asks, I'll just tell them that I had some extra cash and found them cheap on eBay and I've wanted a pair for a while. All of which is true! I haven't told anyone what I'm doing for Halloween. I want it to be a suprise. And since my fiance only knows about the suit, he may not put it all together.
The only thing I'm waiting on from eBay is the wig. It looks like it's long enough to be worked with, and I've got a friend who said she'd style it as long as she had pictures to go from. That might be when the cat will peek out of the bag. Her husband'll probably recognize the pictures, but he'll keep it quiet. But that's only if the wig arrives in time.
Tonight after work I'm probably going to stop by Hobby Lobby to pick up a tux shirt to finish things. And who knows, it might come with a tie already tied and I'll just use the other one later when I don't want a tie tied around my neck.
It'd be a nice suprise if the wig decides to arrive soon. But if it doesn't, I still have everything else. I can figure out something to do with my hair. I'm just hoping to get the reaction I'm thinking I'll get from my friends who know Doctor Who. I'm even going to try to leave the house unnoticed so my friends won't see the costume until they get to the party.
