Dark Fairy Anri

Original Character

A History of Project Anri

As I've put on my profile, Anri is technically my second cosplay. After the failed attempt at Kid, I decided to step it up a notch.

So in 2007, I added a pair of wings to my old school kilt and my clubbing gear, more or less going as my clubbing persona with wings. (My clubbing gear is boots, fishnet, corset and spiral-y face makeup)
Somewhere along the line, the previous-unnamed character named herself Lilith and declared herself to be a very old and powerful immortal fairy.

I was interviewed by the Savage Bandito on YouTube, as well as another crew, whom I didn't get their name.

In 2008, I added a cloak, a different skirt, the tiara, and a halbred-axe-thing. The cloak had to be cut to allow the wings through, and the halbred was, er, "tested out" with my roommate on the front lawn of our apartment building. After-wards, it had to be repaired as well as repainted. We had to glue and duct tape parts of the axe-head back together, and put in a small bit of wood to give it more support. We spray painted it silver and added the black details by hand. (my roomie is an art major **hug**)

Unfortunately, the halbred still broke during the con, and was taken back to the repair shop.

I know that in 2008, a man took my picture after one of the panels, and told me that he would upload it on here. Thus my first introduction to cosplay.com.

For 2009, I redesigned the wings, adding two more sets of wings. I re-enforced the tips and weak areas with nail polish, painted them using glitter glue, and both sewed and hot glued them to the back of an old backpack through the cuts in the cloak. This allowed me to be able to put on and take off the wings easier, as well as them being more comfortable to wear. However, this also meant that the wings are permenantly attached to the cloak, unless I were to cut the cloak off and sewed a new cloak around the wings.
For now, the wings are fully completed.

We also made repairs to the halbred, using hot glue as well as gorilla glue to re-attach the axe-head. This was pretty successful, as well as eliminating the duct tape. However, it left hardened globs of glue. My roommate suggested that we paint the globs to look like blood. Since she has the power over paint in the apartment, she did, and it looks awesome.

This combined with further character growth, modification of makeup, a new leather corset, new gloves and shoes, made up the costume for Anime North 2009.

Due to role playing on twitter, Lilith's character grew, and she changed her name to Anri, and thus became the (mary-sueish) character she is today.
