I bought on November 4th, 2009. I Randomly went to a Toys R Us to see if they got any decent toys, and what do you know, I found a Master Replicas ForceFX lightsaber construction set for £39.99. I was a bit skeptical a bit as to whether the handle of the blade was metal or not, as the box had images of the handles in a matte-looking finish. So I bought it anyways because it's a steal, however unfortunately I was right...When I opened the box, it was indeed made with cheap, slightly-loose plastic pieces, although some pieces are made of metal. It made me curious as to why it was plastic seeing as this is Master Replicas we're talking about, and I also had noticed the blade is a tad shorter than the normal Master Replica blades, but nowhere near as short as the ForceFX Yoda saber. Other than those slight disappointments, at £39.99 I got over the problems with this set and found it to be a fun and brilliant lightsaber kit, even if Master Replicas decided to cut some corners. If you were to pay the full price of $129.99, then I think this is one kit that you should avoid unless you really want a half-arsed Master Replicas product. I don't feel the need to ever buy a lightsaber again although I know I will probably do just that. I believe that the default designs for the sabers are roughly faithful towards the Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi, Yoda and of course the Dark Lord himself, Darth Vader designs. If you want to make your own saber, you can mix and match these parts as well. They easily slide onto an aluminum handle, which I may add that the handle gives the lightsaber a sense of the right weight. It also has a switch so you can choose from three colors; red, green and blue. The light comes from the emitter instead of having LEDs inside the blade. This does make it a little less bright, but no one's gonna notice when you're outside in the dark, as it is still very bright. If it really bothers you, there's some websites that sell something called "Joe Jedi" Mod kits, which sell slightly sturdier blades that illuminate the light from the handle better, and they are as long as the normal MR sabers. I don't recommend it though; if you ruin your saber because you failed to modify the handle, you can't really blame me for your own mistake. All in all, you'll want to buy this kit if you can get it at least half-price and you don't mind the flaws with this set. Sadly, Master Replicas' license to produce replicas for Star Wars props has expired, meaning that this is the last product that will be made by them. If you're not gonna buy this kit, make sure you have enough money to buy a decent MR saber.
