Dark Fairy Anri

Original Character

Post-Halloween shopping

I love Halloween. The costumes, the candy, the decorating. Not too big on getting scared; it's more like I like to BE scary.

Anyways, I usually use Halloween as a time to test out new additions and whatnot to my costume, as a test-run so that I have enough time to make adjustments before Anime North.

Well, there aren't too many big additions to the costume this year, and a lack of a testing ground nearby (ie, I hate not being within walking distance to a/my university).

But after Halloween can be a complete JOY too. Why? post-halloween sales. Yeah, all the costumes are picked over at least a week before Halloween, but you can still find some of those little things.

For example, at Zellars I picked up sparkle dust for 1.99$, normally 3.99$

At one of the three gaming stores in town, I picked up a very good plastic sword for $3.50, normally $7, and a pair of long black evening gloves for $4.

Yes yes, Anri carries a halberd-axe-thing (screw it, I'm just going to call it a halberd), not a sword, and I have those lovely pleather gloves from last year that just need new zippers. However, I like to have backups.

Also, I'm thinking of adding a pouch to the costume. It has been a great pain for me to carry my purse around because either it's out of place with the costume, or just plain annoying. I either carry it normally, which means putting it on under the wings and it being STUCK there for the entire time (I'm kinda used to this; how I carried my purse with my backpack when in high school when walking home).
Or I carry it by it's handle, by hand and have to keep track of it all the time.

I'd rather have something that fits with the costume. I thought that I had a purse that I could attach to a belt and wear, but I think I gave it to charity a couple years back (oh foresight, thine is ever perfect!).

However, I think I found something nice. This pouch: http://www.landmhighland.com/default.asp?mn=1.7.110&f=dp&pcat=39&ptyp=1&pid=225

Also, thinking of actually participating in the cosplay chess this year. It looks fun.
