So I ran out to grab lunch today and when I got back, my boyfriend IM'd me with the following:

SURI: XD ff... okay, so a friend of mine (not a close friend, more like an internet acquaintance) was browsing cosplay.com and linked a picture of "an awesome boy cosplaying Simon" .. ... ... ... it was you.
SURI: XD I said "hey... that's... not a boy... that's the lady I'm dating" ... and she wanted to know how you did your chest.

I was so hilariously amused by this that I demanded he send me the actual conversation.

SERF: I never seen any good boys do him.
SERF: But that is an awesome boy Simon.
SERF: Most of them I see aren't even half-assed. At most, like 1/4 assd.

SURI:... ha. XD That's... that's not a boy... actually... *points at his girlfriend*
SERF: Oh shit
SERF: That's a girl?
SERF: Dude, I thought that was a boy.

That just totally made my day, and it has me completely psyched to cosplay again. There's something about being a 20 (nearly 21) year old woman and being able to pass myself off as a 14 year old boy that is just awesome.

Speaking of, I'll be wearing Simon to New York Comic Con next saturday. (Note to self: Get some boots since you were too stupid to bring your regular ones from NJ over break.) I'll be with a group of friends but I'm not sure if any of them are cosplaying. (One of them might be, but I'm not sure as who.) Hell yeah. Time to freeze my ass off. *Thumbs up* this will be my first time out in this costume while I've had my Boota plush to accompany me. This should be fun.

Suri and I are planning to go out and do a shoot on Valentines Day in Central Park, since he's coming to visit and regular dates are for losers. XD It's going to be so cold, but it will be so incredibly awesome.

As far as Ota'09 goes, things are looking good so far. It's so far shaping up that we're going to be a group of four featuring myself (Simon), my boyfriend Suri (Kamina), and two of my best friends Cass and Lili (Nia and Viral). I'm super excited for this because not only will I have a group again, my group will consist of my three favorite people on the face of the Earth. Suri and Lili are going to fight to the death and Cass is going to be the cutest Nia ever. She's made the decision not to use a wig, so we're all moderately curious as to how her hair is going to turn out.

So that's the rundown with what's going on with my cosplay as of now.

Well I finally got my photos from NYAF up. I don't know why it took me 3 months, but they are finally up. Most are in the Simon vs. Yoko album. Again, thanks so much to all of the Yokos who have taken part! you have made this a wonderfully hilarious undertaking! I can't wait to see more of you at Otakon 09!

Speaking Ota'09, I'm gonna be hitting it up again as Simon and this time I won't be alone. My darling boyfriend Suri and my wonderful best friend Cass will be joining me as Kamina and Nia! They were the Phoenix and Maya to my Edgeworth in our wonderful Ace Attorney group.

Cass isn't going to be using a wig, so we're going to have to bleach and dye her hair. That is sure to be an adventure. But she is a fabulous lady who makes for fabulous cosplay and I'm so looking forward to having her back at my side for cosplay adventures as my favorite anime lady ever, Nia.

It will also be wonderful having my boyfriend in costume at my side again as the extremely manly Kamina. We were so sad we had to put this off for a year but it was not financially possible for us to get it together. (If you recall, I was barely able to pull Simon off. And that was only because of some wonderfully generous friends.)

A few minor adjustments to my costume need to be made, but it's sort of a relief not to have to budget a whole huge chunk of money towards that this year. I'm sure I'm gonna have to loan Suri some money for Kamina, but we'll see how it goes.

Our group may get bigger than the three of us. We might have a Viral lined up, and possibly some others. But who knows. That's what's going on with me right now. Hope you're all doing good too. Thumbs up.

Today I made some final alterations to my costume. And by "alterations",I mean i murdered a pair of flip flops and shoved them in my boots to make it possible to walk in those bastards for any amount of time. XD I also gave my wig a good brushing. and did a little bit of maintenance on the string for my drill. But I'm pretty much ready to go. i hope you all got our costumes done! I can't wait to see all of the great cosplayers.

I had my first photoshoot in my Simon costume today. I went into the city and my friend Boomer manned the camera as we ran around St. Marx Place and just had a lot of fun! All of the photos are up here so please take a look! It was a great time and we had a BEAUTIFUL day for it. I'm so pleased with how this turned out and I hope to do another shoot soon!

Well, just about the whole costume is together. I took some photos the other day but most of them were terrible. I have to say I love this costume though. It's sort of empowering in a weird way. I never got that feeling from my previous cosplays. Though part of it is likely because I've got such a huge emotional investment in Simon at this point.

All I'm missing at the moment is the Core Drill. My boyfriend ordered the Revoltech Gurren Lagann figure, and is giving me the Core Drill that comes with it, so it's covered. We just have to wait for it to get here. It's likely that I'll be in NYC soon with a friend doing a photoshoot, but probably won't have the drill in time. =/ Hm. Maybe I'll make a play on that. That could be pretty fun.

Either way, I'm excited for Otakon and debuting this costume.
