Tali WIP

Ummm I thought I posted this a week ago but it looks like it didn't take. So lets try this again.

Progress:
-Purchased supplies for neckpiece
-Purchased red jersey fabric for Colossus armor detail (google image: Tali Colossus Armor)
-Made foam padding for hips and calves
-Paperclayed helmet. Needs sanded, cracks filled in, painted and visor installed
-Made the knife holster for leg armor

Finished:
-belts
-Gloves
-Fabric pieces
-arm armor
-bought perfect watergun pistol for prop

Still unfinished:
-Shoe sleeves
-Knife detail
-Leg armor
-Glove detail

Paperclay didn't work out as well as I hoped for the leg armor. So its back to craft foam for me!

Tali costume 1.5 update

Tali\'Zorah nar Rayya
Mass Effect
I forgot a few things to do for Tali's costume:
-make 2 fingered gloves. While this will be a pain to force my fingers into a V shape, its still something I want.
-make shoe covers to give the illusion of V shaped toes. Much like the fingers, quarians apparently have two toes.
-Go through with a neck piece? This would be the biggest pain in my arse to do. If I suck it up and do it I will most likely use a type of poster board material, cut into strips, wrap a shiny metallic fabric around these strips, and have long vertical strips to act as a sort of boning to the piece to keep it sturdy (like in corsets). From what I counted, there would be 9 neck ring strips to do.
-make a buckle. I cannot for the life of me find a nice sized, silver oval buckle for the chest belt. I'm so fed up with not having a buckle I'm thinking of taking an old junkie one and slapping paper clay over it.

Ugh, it feels like Tali isn't even 45% done!! Its all minor work but its such a pain...then again, I'm a glutton for punishment.

The consort dress

Asari Consort Sha\'ira
Mass Effect
I haven't posted photos of the fabric but I've had it for months now. I've been looking over game images of the dress, and patterns for a chinese-style dress so I can get an idea of the pattern I need. I'm probably going to kill 2 birds with one stone and ask my costume professor if I can make this dress as a final project.

If anyone is familiar with what I'm talking about--the pink consort dress in Mass Effect that they wear in the Presidium--I am requesting decent images of the dress. I keep having to find youtube videos and rewatch them over and over to get a sketch image down. I would be very grateful to have them, please PM me if you know of any good images!

Hello Bioware forums!

Tali\'Zorah nar Rayya
Mass Effect
I just browsed through the bioware forums, remembering that there would be a few threads asking about Mass Effect costumes. I've been bummed by lack of Mass Effect love on Cosplay and was going to see if anyone else was doing a costume. Someone posted me! I'm super excited and I really hope people enjoy my costume. So I just wanted to say HIII! Don't be shy, ask questions or give comments. I'm so very new to this and I really really want feedback and opinions on how to improve my outfit. Message me on here or on the Bioware forums (I have the same handle for both websites)

Main problems with the costume so far:
-Helm is HUGE!!!!!!!!! I have the option to suck it up and deal with an enormous helmet, or to toss it and start from scratch and build my own. The helm is a Uvex faceshield meant for woodshop and what have you.
-Craft foam isn't as awesome as I thought. The big issue is my right arm armor and it will not take shape. I am going to try out paperclay and see if that makes all the difference.
-I don't have ANYTHING done for the legs!! I will be using paperclay for this to get the desired look for her leg plates.
-Tint on the helm has bubbled. I'm thinking about putting red cellophane over the visor for that colossus armor look and to hopefully disguise the bubbling.
-Thinking too much into the costume! This is a huge problem because it derails me from any progress on the important stuff (armor) For instance, I now have a huge urge to make a translucent omni-tool. This takes additional planning. If I work on this over the important stuff and it turns out terrible then I have lost time on my costume. Knowing this isn't enough because I just get so caught up in the excitement of new ideas

PLEASE give me feedback, I don't want to be a disappointing Tali to anyone! You guys have been so nice and supportive so far, its really exciting for me
