Cosplay meme 2

1. Most Accurate Cosplay:
Winry Rockbell from Fullmetal Alchemist – Considering that she's one of the few non-dark haired characters I've cosplayed, it's ironic. Still, the outfit is pretty exact save the earrings, which I haven't been able to fine (my ears aren't pierced). Also, I can’t fix the issue of blue eyes since they don't make gas permeable colored contacts.

2. Most Difficult Cosplay:
Amano Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII – Anything Amano automatically becomes 10 times harder because of the embellishments. Even if Tifa is probably the least shiny/decorated of his characters, making a duct tape miniskirt takes time.

3. Easiest Cosplay:
Haruhi Fujioka (commoner version) from Ouran High School Host Club - I’ve done a lot of last minute cosplays, but this was the one that turned out the best with the least amount of effort. I didn’t even need to fix my hair or put on make-up (probably should have done the latter since Haruhi has perfect skin, like all anime characters).

4. Most Out Of Character Cosplay:
Lara Croft from Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness – She just doesn’t fit me. I don't do sexy and elegant at the same time (or really, elegant).

5. Most Fun to Cosplay:
Nana Osaki (manga version) from NANA – I get wear my vinyl jacket and boots, be a punk rocker, and throw the horns in pictures. What’s there not to love about that?

6. Sexiest Cosplay:
Jill Valentine from Resident Evil – Actually I felt more exposed than sexy. I haven’t successfully done sexy unless you’ve got a fetish for librarians and school girls.

7. Most Comfortable Cosplay:
Commoner Haruhi – I didn’t have to wear a wig, a skirt, heels, or contacts. Contacts play a huge part in determining comfort since I have rigid gas permeable lenses.

8. Least Comfortable Cosplay:
Tie between Amano Tifa and Jill Valentine – Jill because I felt naked and the top didn’t fit right (clearly I lost my mind when I decided to cosplay her). Amano Tifa because I had forgotten that people aren’t cylinders when I made the skirt. As a result, I couldn’t sit down and get up easily. Also, I hate showing my stomach.

9. Costume with Longest Prep Time:
Tie between Amano Tifa and Miho Tohya from Megatokyo – Amano Tifa because I had to deal with the wig and fake nails. The skirt was tricky to get on since it was so tight. Miho Tohya because of her evil hairstyle (this is why I should start using wigs more).

10. Costume Garment You Wear Out of Costume:
I wear a lot of “costumes” as normal clothes (and I use normal clothes to make cosplay). The one that I enjoy wearing normally the most is Nana Osaki (manga version). Yay for the vinyl jacket!

11. Favorite Wig/Hairstyle:
Nana Osaki – I’ve asked for the specific haircut three times already.

12. Favorite Prop:
Kyoya Hibari’s tonfas – I put a lot of hard work in making them, and they are fun to pose with.

13. Favorite Accessory:
Studded belt for Miho Tohya and Nana Osaki – I used to hate belts, but having a cool studded belt changed my mind. It’s become one of my staple fashion items.

14. Ever been in a group cosplay?
Yes – Harry Potter, Magic Knights Rayearth, Megatokyo, the world record video game character gathering, and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (well the last one was a pair)

15. Ever cosplayed a pairing with someone?
Yes - Dino x Hibari from KHR!

16. Pairing support, yes or no? If yes, how steamy?
Yes for the pairings I like, which are usually explicit/canonical. Unless it was a private shoot, I wouldn’t do PDA, and even then, there would be a lot of faking (theatre has taught me how to look like I’m kissing without doing it)

17. Ever been to a photoshoot?
Yes – for Yomiko Readman, Amano Tifa, Rin Tohsaka, and non-cosplay (though I did wear part of my costumes). I also like to do our own shoots.

18. Ever entered a contest? Did you win an award?
I’ve been in 3 contests: the Amano Cosplay Showcase at Oni-con ’06, A-kon 18 Hall Cosplay, and the Unconventional Couture Fashion Show at Oni-con ’07. No wins...yet. ^_~

19 . The Costume You'll Never Finish:
Mirai Trunks from Dragon Ball Z – The perfectionist in me wants to start from scratch because the jacket I used for Halloween isn’t right. Also, I don’t even know where to begin with the orange shoes.

20. The Costume You've Always Wanted to Make:
Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children – I love the outfit so much, and I love Tifa. It’s a little more feasible than my other dream cosplay (see #22).

21. The Costume You'd Wear If It Weren't For Your Body Type:
Revy from Black Lagoon – I have most of the costume, but I'm what my mother calls "fat". -_-# (I know I'm not really, but I do need to work out).

22. The Costume that You Can't Make for Lack of Money:
Lucifer from Angel Sanctuary – I don’t got the skillz either.

Cosplay meme

1. What was your first cosplay?
Cho Chang (Quidditch version) from Harry Potter – It was a very last minute deal, and I didn’t know I was cosplaying at the time. Some friends and I wanted to dress up for the premiere for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and our graduation robes happened to be blue.

2. Did someone get you into cosplay? Or did you get into it on your own?
It’s a little bit of both. When I was younger, I wanted to be Sailor Mars for Halloween and to dress up for movie premieres like I had seen Star Wars fans do. I didn’t learn about cosplay until a friend proposed that we do it for A-kon.

3. What is your favorite cosplay?
Nana Osaki (artbook kimono version) from NANA – Aside from the fact that I want to be Nana, I love the mix of traditional and modern. My roommate Becky made a beautiful kimono, and she trusted me enough to help.

4. Which is your least favorite?
Lara Croft from Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness – It was really ghetto; I never got to finish the holsters properly so they fell apart. Also, I realized that I could never be Lara Croft.

5. At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays?
Indeed they do. ^_^

6. How many have you done?
Approximately 12 (not counting the last minute ones or what’s in progress).

7. What are the top 5 characters on your list of "Want to Cosplay"?
1) Lucifer from Angel Sanctuary – winged, masked vinyl badassness… that’s all I need to say.
2) Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children – I would wear the outfit normally, and Tifa is just so awesome. My hair used to look like that too.
3) Mirai Trunks from Dragon Ball Z – I want to complete the outfit in honor of my favorite elementary school, where the vice principal there even recognized my half-assed Halloween costume.
4) Revy from Black Lagoon – I feel like I have a better chance of pulling her off than Lara Croft, despite their similarities, because she is Chinese-American and isn’t an aristocrat.
5) Dino Chiavorone from Katekyo Hitman Reborn! – We already wear similar clothes, and we’re both useless on our own.

8. What female cosplay do you want to do most?
According to Question 7, it should be Tifa, but I really just want to do more Nana Osaki cosplays, especially the infamous red dress.

9. What male cosplay do you want to do most?
Lucifer, even though I will never have the time, money, or skills.

10. What do you prefer to do: make or buy your costumes?
I buy the clothing and make the props. Sometimes I'll get people help sew stuff, and once I made a skirt out of duct tape. One of these days I’ll learn how to sew properly (it’s like driving: I understand the concepts but I just have a hard time doing it).

11. Your most memorable experience? What makes it so memorable?
Amano Cosplay Showcase – It was the first time I made the majority of my costume (duct tape miniskirt, w00t!) and the first time I entered a cosplay contest. In addition meeting Yoshitaka Amano, I got to meet a lot of great cosplayers, which was nice because I usually keep to myself/my group at cons.

12. Your dream cosplay?
I hate sounding like a broken record so my ultimate dream is to have every major Nana Osaki outfit there is (I told you I want to be her).

13. Is there a pattern in your cosplays? If so, what?
I usually stick to dark-haired characters because I don’t like wigs. I also like to cosplay girls who are more than what they seem. For example, if they're tough on the outside, they have a vulnerable interior (Nana Osaki). On the flipside, if they look sweet and innocent, then they will kick your butt in 10 seconds (Gogo Yubari).

14. Your most recent cosplay?
Nana Osaki (movie version) from NANA

15. What do you prefer: cosplaying in a group or on your own?
Groups are more fun because of the photo ops and ability to get into character more, but I like having the ability to do my own thing.

Hello there!

I figured I should write in this to remind me of what I need to do before the Sendai Cosplay Fire on March 1. My Hibari cosplay is far from complete. I've got to finish cutting the PVC pipes, put black and silver tape (my Japanese isn't good enough to get the right paint) onto the pipes, make the Nanimori armband, make Hibird, buy a blue tie, and get a haircut. Yikes! I am a terrible procrastinator.

I've invited my ALT friends in Japan to the event so they can experience one of my hobbies. Hopefully one of them will be cosplaying. The one who said she would wound up having her high school's graduation on the day. She wants me to take her to an event some other time though. Yay for spreading the cosplay love!
